About Us

My wife, was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. We were baffled by the diagnoses. She had never smoked or been around second hand smoke. After receiving the diagnoses, a friend advised me to check for Radon Gas. After testing, I was relieved to find that the levels in our home were 3.2 pCi/L, well below the EPA action level and average for our zip code. I looked at the mortality rate statistics and I came to the conclusion that the 3.2 level of radon had the same risk as someone who smoked who lived in an are with very low radon. I then did the calculations and came to the conclusion that the lung cancer risk rate was equivelent to smoking 25 cigarrettes per day. I was shocked. Why wasn't I warned? Why was I so naive and ignorant? If we were smoking 25 cigarettes per day, we would understand why we are dealing with lung cancer.

After learning more about radon, I purchased 24 detectors and started leasing and selling them to neighbors. I wanted everyone to be aware of the radon risk in the area. I found that my house had one of the lowest readings in the neighborhood. Several of my close neighbors had readings well above the EPA standand. I am now on an awareness cruisade. I found that by leasing the detectors I could make it affordable so that every home owner could test for radon gas in a very easy manner. I also found that through the sales and lease of the detectors, a grass level awareness campaign could be launched.
